Susanna and the Elders by Artemisia Gentileschi (1610)
The first dated and signed work by Artemisia, painted when she was just seventeen. The painting depicts the Biblical story of Susanna, a young woman sexually harassed by two elders. Unlike many other versions of the scene in which Susanna is painted as flirtatious and knowing of her actions to entice the men, Artemisia painted Susanna as a vulnerable young woman, repulsed and unable to escape the menacing figures who threaten her.
In case anyone wondered why her head is turned in such an unnatural, uncomfortable way, this was how Artemisia originally envisioned the scene before painting over it with the final image

I’m trying to work it out from this page but is it actually what Artemesia painted or is it painted by this woman as an art piece? Someone translate art talk for me!
Either way, that is a FANTASTIC image.
